This Veteran’s Day, I’m profiling an all-inspiring Veteran, one who continues to serve and protect in a caring, civilian role.
Dr. Mary Kelly has a career devoted to leadership and education. She taught both economics and finance at Hawaii Pacific University and served as a professor in the US Naval and Air Force Academies. Her work has impacted over 20,000 people all over the world.
This retired Navy Commander is now the CEO of Productive Leaders where she works as a professional speaker for education, government and private businesses.
Today, Dr. Kelly’s credentials also support a new mentorship role. After the loss of her husband to cancer, she, like many people, was left feeling vulnerable and unprepared. It is now her passion to help others prepare for similar circumstances.
In her latest book, In Case of an Emergency, Break Glass, she offers assistance.
In her words, “In case of an emergency loved ones are often left making decisions and searching for paperwork when they are least able to cope with the crisis. Most people don’t know what they need until it’s too late. We thought we were organized too. We weren’t.”
She continued, “People don’t realize the mess they leave behind when they don’t have important paperwork organized. Insurance claims don’t get filed and survivors spend thousands of dollars on lawyers trying to settle the estate.”
As cited on her website, Organize-you.com, less than 57% of Americans have a will.
She wrote her book to save others from this emotionally and financially draining process.
Mary explained, “It takes time and effort to get your paperwork organized. The mere thought of all of the details can be overwhelming. In my book, I make the process easier by breaking it up into manageable sections. I hope you feel more satisfied once you are finished.”
