Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, Wisconsin, has a state-of-the-art show kitchen constructed for 1.2 million in a large part with the help of Jones Dairy. It is where Instructor Chef, Scott Finley, and other staff of the culinary personnel of Culinary & Hospitality division of Fox Valley Tech pass on their expertize to the students. The highly technical show kitchen allows students to view all aspects of the instruction from the several large screens. Students come from all walks of life and age groups.
Students learn all phases of the hospitality profession and show off their expertise in the culinary field in Ione’s Dining Room, named for a former employee, and where students under the guidance of instructors learn everything from preparing a menu to cleaning up. Students of the Restaurant Operations classes provide a one-of-a-kind unique dining experience for patrons with a variety of themed gourmet dinners such as German Haus, New England Bounty, French Country Fare and others. The German Haus menu includes German favorites such as Tiny Potato Cakes with Gravlax, Potato Soup with Leek and Bacon, German-style Potato Salad, Sauerbraten Rhineland-style served with dumplings, Spaetzle, and Red Cabbage with Apples. For an award-winning finish choose between Sacher Torte and Cherry Strudel. Dinner is accompanied with a choice of local wine and beer.
