In 2007, the National Enquirer had photos of Tiger Woods and a woman in his car in a church parking lot. The National Enquirer photos were blurry, but they had enough details surrounding the incident that Tiger Woods people knew the story was true, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday in an unbelievably detailed story.
Tiger Woods and the National Enquirer struck a complicated deal to have the photos blocked from being published, and part of the deal included Tiger Woods posing for photos and a cover for Men’s Fitness magazine.
American Media, Inc. owns the National Enquirer and Men’s Fitness magazine. In 2007, Tiger Woods was contributing stories to Golf Digest and to everyone’s amazement Woods gave Men’s Fitness unprecedented access to his life.
The National Enquirer, American Media, and Men’s Fitness would not comment on the photos or the story.
The woman who was allegedly in the photos was Mindy Lawton, a waitress at a restaurant near Woods home. Lawton is one of the women on the list of alleged mistresses. Lawton is the one woman that many people had a difficult time believing because she looked so different from the other allegedly woman Tiger Woods was having affairs with. Tiger Woods has been in seclusion for the past three weeks, and it was reported Friday that he has spent a lot of time alone, eating cereal, watching cartoons and playing golf at night when he can’t be seen. For more on that story, click here.
Tiger Woods has been under intense media focus for the past two and a half weeks. A few days before Thanksgiving, the National Enquirer released a story about an alleged affair of Tiger Woods and Rachel Uchitel, and the story didn’t get much fan attention until after Woods crashed his car the day after Thanksgiving. Then multiple stories of Tiger Woods alleged affairs appeared and women came out with statements.

Tiger Woods released a statement on Friday stating that he is quitting golf indefinitely, and that he needs to spend time with his family. To read Woods complete statement, click here.
A few days later Jaimee Grubbs came forward with her story of an affair with Woods, and she offered proof with a voicemail from Tiger Woods and over 300 text messages from him. Tiger Woods had his third knee surgery in Park City, Utah on April 15, 2008, and took two months off. He was determined to play in the US Open and win...which he did on June 14, 2008, much to everyone's amazement less than two months after his knee surgery. He was in pain during the US Open, as shown in this Associated Press photo. After the US Open, Tiger Woods took additional time off to let his knee heal.
