This weekend will be wrapping up the last of the big state tournaments here in Des Moines, and there is going to be a ton of extra traffic anywhere you go. Do you really want to be out at Jordan Creek this Saturday? Not unless you want to play chicken for a parking spot! Instead, why not do a little home improvement--and do a little flirting while you are at it!

Normally, one might think these two don't go together. Actually, they do. How, you wonder? Try this: map out a home improvement project that you can easily complete in one weekend--either by yourself, or with the help of a few friends. Maybe you want to give your bathroom a nice faux finish, or maybe something as simple as new kitchen rugs! Make a shopping list of items you need to do this project, and head out to your nearest Menards store (or Home Depot, or Lowes! I just prefer Menards, but you can pick one.) There are several metro locations of any of these stores.

I know, I know--what does this have to do with flirting?! I'm getting to that. ANY of these stores will have a veritable crop of nice, good looking gentlemen just waiting to help you with your home improvement needs. Granted, you may be an extremely knowledgable, capable person, and able to know exactly what you need and where to find it. However, that doesn't mean you can't pretend to not know the difference between two different kinds of paint. Not only can you get in some great flirting while making a guy feel great about himself, you can also maybe get some insider advice while you are at it, and that can potentially save you time and money! Plus, you never know--if he's single, maybe he could assist!

It might sound a bit trite, but trust me--it works! Do you really want to be battling the crowds who are just dying to get their Olive Garden fix? I'm betting no. Try this instead, and not only will you have more fun, but you'll also get a fun do-it-yourself project too!
