Three legged race fun.
No big plans for Labor Day? Why not host an impromptu family picnic? Orlando is host to a vast number of recreational parks. Load up the family and head out for a fun-filled Monday. If you’re not up to packing up the kids and supplies, make the short trek to your own backyard.
Be sure to have a rain plan in place. The unpredictable Florida skies often bring afternoon thunder storms this time of year. No tears of disappointment are necessary. Simply push the living room furniture against the wall and throw down a blanket or tablecloth. An indoor picnic will be a welcome treat!
Simple menu plans are a must. If your family loves to grill out, the traditional barbeque line-up of hot dogs, burgers, potato salad and beans is always a favorite. To serve a little more adventurous clan, create some chicken and bacon kabobs and serve them with a fruit and dip platter. When a stress-free, no fuss solution suits your needs, go through the Sonny’s BBQ drive-thru and order “instant barbeque”. Remember the theme of the day is “no work”.
While you are preparing the meal, put the kids to work making dessert. A fun patriotic flag cake would be appropriate for a Labor Day celebration. This could be created quickly with minimal supervision.
Make this Labor Day a memorable one by choosing fun activities in which the whole family will participate. Go fishing, ride bikes, play volleyball, or take a long nature walk. Celebrate by sharing quality time with friends and family.
Traditional picnic games will be fun if you have a larger group. Sack races, 3-legged races, and wheelbarrow relays are timeless classics. Parent and child teams bring hilarious results. Likewise, water fun activities seem even more exciting when you get to drench the grownups. Let loose and have fun. Your kids will make the day as one of their favorite family times.
