Snow days Chicago at Navy Pier is this Saturday February 8, 2014 from 11am-8 pm and Sunday February 8, 2014 from 11 am-6 pm. There will be a variety of activities but the main attraction and to be honest the only real reason to go is the snow sculptures.

Fifteen professional teams from around the globe and 12 high school teams will be creating impressive sculptures made exclusively out of snow. There are sculptures of a bear, a lion, an Aztec Rain God and a Death Moth, whatever that is. The pieces will be illuminated by colored lights after sunset.

They are located on the grounds in front of Navy Pier so the Navy Pier averse can go and see them without actually ever having to set foot on the pier. The festival ends Sunday night but the sculptures will be able to be viewed for the coming weeks and based on the weather this winter they may exist well into April.
