On August 1, an elderly Labrador retriever mix was picked up as a stray and taken to a busy animal control facility in Baldwin Park, Calif.
The 16-year-old dog, dubbed "Zinnia," is still waiting behind the bars of her kennel run for someone to take notice her and bring her home. On August 9, the non-profit organization, United Hope for Animals, wrote the following information about this sweet-natured senior:
Weighing only 30 lbs, this calm and sweet-natured senior is still the belle of the ball! She loves all people and other dogs. When Zinnia smiles at you, it is impossible not to smile back! She has a senior energy level and thus will enjoy mellow walks around the neighborhood and evenings at home watching television. Zinnia will be a rewarding and loyal indoor pet and best friend to anyone in any living situation.
Shelter volunteers created a video of Zinnia. In the video, they note that she is extremely gentle and they believe that she will make an excellent "lap dog" for some lucky new guardian. Zinnia's eyes may be a bit less bright than they were a few years ago and her fur shows the silver and gray that time has provided, but she is still gentle, smiling and beautiful.
Please take a moment to network Zinnia's information and help her find a compassionate individual with a soft spot for seniors.
