America has never been more divided than it is now. I don't mean divided by wealth -- that's the media narrative.
America is divided by ideology, with liberals who live on the coasts and work in "social" jobs opposing a Silent Majority of rural/suburban middle classes who tend to be mostly conservative. They may not be branded Conservative, but in outlook they're "moderate" to conservative.
The liberal establishment wants to get rid of these people and replace them with compliant consumers who always vote leftist, and their plan is simple: use immigration as a weapon of genocide to replace white American middle class citizens.
This is as clearly as the media dare spell it out here:

Liberals use race as a weapon against the majority. They import third world populations to serve as new voters who will always vote against the majority,and then they use "racist!" as an accusation against anyone who dares oppose them.
The worst part is that liberals are the biggest racists possible. They are using these minorities as political symbols of goodwill, and as demographic placeholders, but they are content to keep them living in poverty and destroy the nation as a whole.
And for what? For power. For permanent rule of the United States by destroying the voting block that might (ssh!) just keep voting Republican because that's what the Silent Majority tends to do:

Republicans are the white party. Democrats are the party for everyone else, including white liberals, and their goal is to destroy that white party by destroying the white majority. Immigration will eventually do this: when everyone blends to a uniform shade of brown, there will be no more white people, and the "good" side will have won.
In the meantime, it has created a political issue so hot no one will even talk honestly about it. Accuse someone of racism, you win the debate. It's like McCarthyism, the witch hunts, and finding heretics all in one -- you basically destroy your opposition not only in public opinion, but also in ruining their career by stamping them with the ugly tag of "racist."
Watch any honest article about race. The author immediately gets called a "racist" by the left, and then is abandoned. The leftists withdraw first, and then the rightists -- who are very sensitive about this issue since it is used against them most frequently -- withdraw very publicly. We can't be associated with that.
Waving the “bloody shirt” of racism has been the most reliable workhorse of Democratic politics for at least a generation. Remember the wall-to-wall coverage of the “epidemic” of black-church fires in the 1990s? Remember George W. Bush’s “insensitivity” regarding the ghastly lynching of James Byrd? The epidemic turned out to be imaginary and Bush was happy to sign the death warrant for one of Byrd’s murderers, but the tactic is too precious for Democrats to abandon. - The National Review
The result is that the topic is off-limits. Who does that benefit? The Democrats, of course. They want you to stop talking about this so they can continue their practice of replacing the Silent Majority of white, lowercase-c conservative people.
They want to replace them with fanatical leftists who are united by a desire to destroy the previous American empire, and replace it with one that focuses less on standards in common and more on personal importance -- in short, a chaotic anarchy like the third world.
Immigration is a form of class warfare and racism. It's war against the white middle class, who because they're not allowed to resist, are experiencing record amounts of racial discrimination. It's war against the idea of Republicans, conservatives and shared values.
Those who endorse immigration pretend they are bringing on Utopia, but really, they are only thinking of themselves. They want power, permanent power, and no social standards so they can behave in any anarchic way they want. They don't care what is destroyed.
In the meantime, our inability to talk honestly about this issue has ruined any hope of a future in this country. We are now permanently divided, and no side has a bigger grievance than white America, which has now seen that the left wants to commit genocide against it.
