Immigration: Alabama does Obama’s job for him

The Alliance for Socialist Liberal Progressives at ABC News is at it again, this time attempting to smear the State of Alabama for its no-nonsense measures relating to immigration. Recently instated by Governor Robert Bentley, the state’s newest school tracking law is a bold first step towards undermining the bridge between American social services and Mexico that draws so many individuals to violate the established north-south border.

Unsurprisingly, the leftists are howling racism while ignoring the utter failure of the Obama Administration to effectively combat illegal immigration. Last year the same political cavalcade hounded Jan Brewer for her own tough measures in Arizona, this even after the president cut funding for a fence on the border.

Alabama’s law is certainly strict—children can be pulled from school for being undocumented—but it remains necessary. The Federal Government’s blatant avoidance of immigration during the Bush and Obama years shows that Washington has little interest in serious routes to stopping the lawless behavior common near the division of America and Mexico, thus demanding reactionary policies within the states.

So far Alabama and Arizona stand rather alone, yet growing impatience with the Feds may spur rapid change in the near future. Rick Perry’s appeasement strategies in Texas have caused voters to lose confidence in his government, and New Mexico’s recent election of Susana Martinez stands to change the dynamics of enforcement in that state as well.

As emotional as it may be to implement, immigration reform must be harnessed for the good of all taxpayers in the United States. The entire notion that some individuals contributing nothing to the central government should be eligible for benefits alongside actual citizens is delusional; a political mindset that will inevitably lead to failure in the long run.

Until Barack Obama demonstrates leadership and addresses the open border, it is highly likely that more Alabama-esque laws will come into being to protect the rights of all law-abiding Americans, regardless of their race and creed.
