Imbolc or Candlemass is a celebration of the first stirrings of life. Just as a baby quickens and kicks in the womb before he or she is ever born, the signs of spring come to life in the winter. Here in the Pacific Northwest, the signs are white snowdrop blossoms, hungry chickadees and the cold frosty nights turning to familiar rains. Wiccans are thinking about new beginnings as well. Now is the time to begin the preparations for hopes and dreams. One way to initiate such growth is to make Imbolc Resolutions.
Imbolc Resolutions are like New Year's Resolutions, but are tied to this part of the seasonal cycle and are best enjoyed with a feast! Try making only three Imbolc resolutions, one for your physical or material life, one for your intellectual or emotional life and one for your spiritual life. The best goals are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and have a time frame. Once you make your Imbolc Resolutions, don't look back. They can come to fruition as inexorably as the march of this winter towards the spring.
