Iman Shumpert injury update news isn't good for the New York Knicks. While the team hasn't updated the Shumpert injury publicly just yet, a report has come in stating it is a sprained MCL that he is dealing with. According to NBA analyst Ian Begley on Thursday morning (Feb. 20), the extent of the knee problem could cause him to miss several weeks of playing time. It all took place against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night (Feb. 19), when he had to be helped off the court.
This would be the third time that he has injured his knee and it is starting to become a problematic issue. This could have turned away possible trading partners as well, because there aren't many franchises that want to take a big risk on a wing player that could get hurt every season he is in the league. Some fans for the Knicks have even taken to social media stating that he should have been held out of the lineup as the trade deadline approached.
Fantasy basketball owners might want to move on from having Iman Shumpert on the active roster at this point, because if the injury is long-term, his value has just been diminished quite a bit. It was a risk to hold on to him for this long, but the hope was always there that he could finish the season with a bigger role on another team. More minutes could have led to some good numbers, but that doesn't appear likely now.
