Imaging USA set to open in Atlanta (Photos)

If you're a photographer in Atlanta for the NFC Championship between the Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers this weekend there is one other event you should not miss: The world's largest annual convention and expo organized by professional photographers for professional photographers, Imaging USA, begins January 20 at the Georgia World Congress Center in downtown Atlanta.

Hosted by the non-profit Professional Photographers of America (PPA), Imaging USA is a "must visit" opportunity for any photographer as it provides technical assistance and inspiration to photographers wishing to improve their photo-taking skills. Additionally it will also provide guidance and counsel regarding how to make more money being a photographer. For three days Imaging USA and the PPA will provide access to educational seminars, a trade show and expo and numerous networking opportunities for those who make their living out of photography or those who aspire to do so.

"The education everyone has access to here is nearly unlimited, from speaker after speaker presenting their messages, to when friends come together and share," PPA president Tim Walden stated in a recent release. "Seeing the vast pools of talented speakers and accessing vendors from across the country—all in one place—is simply amazing."

Imaging USA attendees will benefit from classes focusing on a multitude of different specialties including youth sports, weddings, portraits and commercial photography. Other "tricks of the trade" will be covered and geared toward improving photographic and business skills, including capturing the right image in camera, post processing software to enhance the photo and then classes on how best to market and sell the photo once its taken and processed.

In addition to the formal education sessions the Imaging USA EXPO trade show highlights hundreds of the industry's leading vendors showcasing their products. Attendees can watch product demos, grab show-special deals and pick vendors' brains for the best solutions to their particular shot-taking issues. Canon U.S.A., Epson America, SanDisk, Nikon, ThinkTank, Tamron, Manfrotto, and Joby are among the main vendors who will be exhibiting their latest products and offering attendees advice and suggestions as to how best use their products.

Other notable features of Imaging USA 2013 include one of the world's largest annual photographic exhibits free and open to the public and a convention-wide party taking over the Georgia Aquarium.

Registration is still open and several options are available, including full-convention and expo-only passes. A special Join & Go promotion includes a free full-convention registration for new professional active members who join PPA prior to the show.
