Imagineer Gary Landrum talks about It's a Small World at Disney World

It's a Small World has a rich history at Walt Disney World and at Disney parks in general, since it dates back to 1966 at Disneyland. It's origin goes back even further, since it was a top attraction at the 1964 World's Fair. That makes 2014 its 50th anniversary, and that special occasion was commemorated at the Magic Kingdom on April 10.

Click the video accompanying this article to hear from Imagineer Gary Landrum, a historian with a vast knowledge of this venerable attraction. You'll learn about how Walt Disney applied his genius to the ride and little tricks to make the dolls look more vibrant, like the type of backdrop used.

You may have noticed that the international dolls always look their best. Part of that is because each one has a spare costume to wear if one becomes dull or soiled. Jump to this article to learn more about costuming the dolls.
