Imagine Dragons and Lorde lead the finalists for the Billboard Music Awards

Finalists for the 2014 Billboard Music Awards have been announced. The awards will take place live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, May 18th. The awards will air on ABC.

Imagine Dragons and Lorde lead the finalists with twelve categories each. Imagine Dragons are nominated for Top Artist, Top Duo/Group, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Digital Songs Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top Streaming Artist, Top Rock Artist, Top Rock Album, Top Hot 100 Song, Top Digital Song, Top Streaming Song (Audio), Top Rock Song (X2). The group had a hit with their album "Night visions which featured the hit song "Radioactive".

Lorde is nominated for Top New Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Digital Songs Artist,Top Radio Songs Artist, Top Rock Artist, Top Rock Album, Top Hot 100 Song, Top Digital Song, Top Radio Song, Top Streaming Song (Audio), Top Rock Song. Her debut album "Pure Heroine" featured the hit song "Royals".

Justin Timberlake is nominated in 11 categories, Katy Perry is nominated in 10 and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis follow nominated in 8 categories.

Jason Derulo is among one of first artists to be announced as a performer on the awards. Kelly Rowland is among one of the first presenters to be announced. More performers and presenters will be announced at a later date.

Fans can vote for the 2014 Milestone Award presented by Chevrolet. The award will be given to an innovative artist who has achieved a notable chart milestone over the past year. The six finalists for this special editorial are: Imagine Dragons, John Legend, Luke Bryan, OneRepublic, Ellie Goulding and Carrie Underwood. Fans can vote for their favorite Milestone artist online at Billboard.com/milestone. Fans can also enter a contest for a chance to win an opportunity to present the award live with recording artist Kelly Rowland.

The six finalists will be narrowed down to three finalists and announced on April 21st. Voting will then continue through the first two hours of the awards and the winner will be announced during the last hour of the show.
