Images in the Moment Tonight

Artist Diane Tuckman was born in Egypt and grew up in France. She traveled extensively throughout Europe surrounded by the work of some of  the greatest artists the world has ever known. "Every time I apply brush to silk, my heart skips a beat! I am hooked on silk painting as it offers endless possibilities for unusual textures and colors," Tuckman said. Tonight Tuckman will bring her incredible imagination to the Washington Metro region in an Art Exhibition at the Huntington Community Center located at 13022 8th Street in Bowie, Maryland, at 6:30 pm

"Experience a Moment in Time through timeless works of artist, instructor, author and writer, Diane Tuckman. Photography and silk paintings will be on display in the Artist Vision's Gallery during the months of September and October,"  the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission encourages the public to participate in the event today.

Tuckman, who is the co-author of The Best of Silk Painting with  Artist Jan Janas, features the work of silk painting artist from around the world. Tuckman also publishes an international networking newsletter, which is titled The Silkworm, and serves as a forum for silk painters from all over the world to stay informed. "My Tallit" is one of Tuckman's works that is featured in the book, The Best of Silk Painting. The vibrant colors and beautiful designs in the work were inspired by her participation in an adult B'nai Mitzvah class. Tuckman encouraged her students to paint their own prayer shawl and gave them the phrase, "Your strength, my strength, from each other we will all get strength."

"In collaboration with Jan Janas I co-authored three books: The Complete Book of Silk Painting, Creative Silk Painting, and The Best of Silk Painting, published by North Light. Seeking to blend my passion for silk and photography, some of my images are now printed on silk by Ed Noyce, a fellow fiber artist," Tuckman said.

"It is a privilege to share the work created by Ms. Tuckman. She has a wonderful spirit and her art has a timeless quality that we are happy to share with the community," said Cristal Toribio, Art Curator for the Huntington Community Center.
