Upcoming Saint Louis hip-hop group Illphonics' next big show is coming soon, and the best part is that admission is free.
Illphonics will be holding the Art of Sound show July 25 on Art Hill in King Louis IX Plaza in front of the Saint Louis city art museum. As stated above, entrance to the show is free. The music show will start at 7 in the evening, followed by a film at 9.
The Art of Sound show by Illphonics is part of the Saint Louis Art Museum's outdoor film series. The series runs from mid-July to the first of August. Other musicians who will be performing for the outdoor series are Brothers Lazaroff, the Rhythm Section Road Show, and Miss Jubilee and the Humdingers.
On the same day as the Illphonics outdoor concert, the Art Museum will be screening the 1989 film “Field of Dreams.” A complete schedule of the movies being shown in the outdoor film series can be found at the museum's website. Food trucks will also be on the museum grounds serving food to event patrons.
The band Illphonics' most recent live performance was at the Riverfront Times' 2014 Music Showcase at the Gramophone. The group was nominated for the 2014 RFT Music Awards in the 'hip-hop group' category but lost to local band Doorway. A complete list of the RFT Music Awards winners can be found here.
Illphonics latest album, a self-titled hip-hop fusion release, has been available for purchase since July of 2013. The album features many local Saint Louis talents. You can listen to tracks from Illphonics' newest album, currently streaming on SoundCloud.
