It was her second date and she decided to meet him there. Though, they had spent hours on the phone and their first date had run another marathon, she would prefer to drive anyway. Besides it made no sense. He lived less than fifteen minutes from Sandwich, Illinois where he invited her for pizza.. She lived almost an hour north. Plus, she could still run like hell if it didn’t work out.
He was there at Gonzo’s on Main Street when she arrived and somehow she knew it would be a wonderful evening. On a Saturday evening, Gonzo’s provided a cozy environment with posters of the nostalgic 1960's and 1970's as well as frame photos of Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and Elvis, added to the mix.
He introduced her to Art, the owner, an energetic, man with a great sense of humor, his wife, daughter and co-workers who passionately worked together to make the best pizza in town. In fact, it wasn’t the best pizza in town, in her many years of being a pizza connoisseur, it became the number ONE pizza on her list, among a selection of thin and stuffed crusts.
Gonzo’s pizza is well worth an hours drive, for its excellence in pizza and quality sandwiches such as their mouth-watering beef rolls. Gonzo's also hosts a variety of musicians and vocalists that provide a blast from the past in beautiful music.
Gonzo’s Pizzeria is located at 9 N. Main Street, Sandwich Illinois and they also deliver. For more information, you can contact Art at 815-786-3322 You can also like them on Facebook.
