An amendment to a state bill to ban semi-automatic firearms and standard capacity magazines will be voted on tomorrow afternoon, Illinois State Rifle Association announced today in a late breaking alert.
“After getting nowhere in the Senate, the gun controllers have taken their campaign to destroy your rights to the Illinois House,” the alert warns Prairie State gun owners. “Earlier today, Amendment #1 to SB2899 was introduced in the Illinois House of Representatives.
“Sponsored by rabidly anti-gun Rep. Eddie Acevedo, the amendment would do two things to you,” the alert continues. “It would pick your pocket to pay for the confiscation and destruction of your own guns [and] It would ban more than 50 percent of the rifles and more than 80 percent of handguns owned by Illinois citizens.
“This bill will be voted on by the House Judiciary 1 Committee on Sunday afternoon -- you must act now!” the alert urges, listing legislators and their contact numbers to call.
“This is outrageous even for Illinois; they have no respect for the people!” an activist source informed Gun Rights Examiner. “They are doing this to minimize any effort to rally support against the Gun Ban Bill/Amendment, even the NRA/ISRA lobbyist must make a special trip back to Springfield.
“If the General Assembly is in session then the lines at the capitol are supposed to be manned,” he related. “So I am asking everyone to call these numbers even if you do not live in Illinois and let them know how despicable this vote is to ban our guns!”
Gun rights activists are encouraged to make the calls and share this alert to mobilize a widespread and intense protest to what appears to be a legislative assault that would have been a sneak attack had watchful, dedicated eyes not stayed alert while most gun owners slumbered.
UPDATE: ISRA reports no movement on gun ban bills.
