Jim Ryan is the best known GOP contender in the gubernatorial race. As a two term Attorney General of the state, Jim Ryan lost a 2002 gubernatorial bid to the now ousted Rod Blagojevich. Since leaving office, Jim Ryan has served as a Distinguished Fellow at Benedictine University in Lisle where he lectures in the area of law and government. In addition, he is the director the Center of Civic Leadership and Public Service at Benedictine.
