Illinois GOP candidates who are weak on illegal immigration

Harry Kibler

For Governor:

Bill Brady voted "Yes" on HB 60 (in-state tuition for illegal immigrants), "Yes" on SB 1623 (Illinois agencies must accept fake IDs from foreign governments) and "Yes" on HB1744 (intimidates Illinois employers out of using E-Verify).

Dan Proft supports drivers' licenses for illegal immigrants, according to the voter guide released by the Illinois Family Institute. He has also had at least one pro-amnesty speech featured in La Raza, in which he called our incredibly lenient immigration laws "immoral" and described enforcement as "impractical." Additionally, the head of the Illinois Minute Men, Rosanna Pulido, also claims that Proft publicly smeared her as a demogogue for speaking out against illegal immigration.

For Senate:

Mark Kirk received the worst possible rating from Numbers USA (0%) in 2003.

For Secretary of State:

Robert Enriquez would give drivers' licenses to illegal immigrants.

For the 5th Congressional District:

David Ratowitz is an immigration lawyer who admittedly opposes detaining and deporting illegal immigrants (as opposed to fining them and then granting them amnesty) and insists that they are vital to our economy.

    Dear Robert,

Let me clear up some facts in your article. The article I wrote was not a closed door meeting. It was a public meeting and there was lots of folks there. It was talking about the State of the Republican Brand. The rest of our story is correct.

Bill Brady and myself have talked several times. He is totally unapologetic about his vote that force businesses in Illinois to accept a document that the FBI testified before Congress was a threat to our National Security! He answers the charges with some emotional filled sob story. Illinois is over run by illegal aliens ON Bill Brady's watch and Kirk Dillard's watch.

Why didn't Bill Brady or Kirk Dillard take leadership like Joe Wilson did and stand up for the Illinois taxpayers who are forced to spend 4 billion dollar a year on free services for illegal aliens? Yes my fellow Americans, this generational theft has happened on THEIR WATCH!! PLEASE check out their voting records, voting records do not lie!

  • Dan Proft 2 years ago

First of all, my "shady financial past"? Really? Why didn't you ask me about it if you were so concerned? How gutless and disingenuous.

Second, the meeting described was a public forum sponsored by the America's Future Foundation--hardly a "closed door" meeting. So that is a lie.

Third, I have explcitly said I am opposed to amensty; I oppose sanctuary cities; I opposed rights and privileges reserved for American citizens or legal residents being extended to those here illegally. So calling me a "pro-amnesty" candidate is also a blatant and pathetic lie.

Finally, if you were just going to be a shill for Adam, you should have said so and I wouldn't have wasted my time offering candid responses to your questions only to be smeared, be subjected to grade school innuendo, and have my positions grossly misrepresented.

Your hysterics and conspiracy theories say much more about you and the candidate you are shamlessly and obviously flacking for, sir, then they do about me.

  • Robert Moon 2 years ago

    Rosanna,

Thanks for the correction. The article made it sound like a closed meeting. I will not use the term, "closed-door."

  • Robert Moon 2 years ago

    Dan,

I'll let the article you wrote for La Raza speak for itself (see posted above).

And call me whatever names you want. I am on a RINO hunt here and the only thing that put you in my crosshairs was your pro-amnesty record.

  • Joe Miller 2 years ago

Thanks so very much for bringing this information out in the open, and for the dialogue you have with Rosanna. The voting public needs very much to be aware of information such as this in order to make an informed vote...and it is not information that the maimed stream media is ever going to put out there.

  • Debbie 2 years ago

It seems that many of our candidates lack leadership in preserving the United States laws, under our Constitution, and the laws of the land of Lincoln. Illegals should not be granted amnesty or citizenship without going through the proper channels when they want to enter the U.S. As far as I am concerned the borders should be shut, and I will not vote for any candidate who upholds amnesty or provides education for illegals on American Tax payer dollars. This goes for Abortion too! Thanks for exposure on these candidates!

  • Carol Rogers 2 years ago

Robert, what am I missing here? Your article says that Dan Proft wrote several articles for La Rasa and yet the link clearly shows that it was an editorial comment on the Don Wade and Roma show on WLS. Did La Rasa pick it up and print it? His points in the editorial are valid and I certainly can't discern an endorsement of amnesty nor open borders. Dan Proft says he is adamantly opposed to amnesty and I take him at his word on it.

  • Spense 2 years ago

Dan Proft, are you denying that you wrote several pro-amnesty articles for the radical left-wing Latino supremacist group La Raza? I noticed you washed over that in your response to Robert Moon. I know you say you're opposed to amnesty now, but have you in fact wrote pro-amnesty articles in the past? I didn't see anywhere in your response that you denied writing pro-amnesty articles. You wouldn't be the first politician to say one thing and do another.

  • Robert Moon 2 years ago

Here's what Dan wrote (click the link above to see):

"'It's the law' is not a moral defense to laws that are immoral. The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 was 'the law' and it was wrong. National origins quotas aimed at stemming the tide of southern and eastern European immigrants was "the law" on immigration until 1965 and it was wrong.

And for a party founded to combat the most perniciously wrong legal institution in American history--I speak of slavery, of course--we, as Republicans, need to refresh our recollections of an America that is more than a land mass, and fight for the America that is an idea rooted in a belief in individual enfranchisement derived from the God-given rights with which we have all been endowed."

Anyone who can read this and not somehow manage to think that Dan Proft isn't pro-illegal immigrant and pro-amnesty isn't being honest with themselves.

Associating with La Raza negates Proft's claim that he opposes amnesty and sanctuary cities because that organization actively supports any effort to prevent enforcement of the nation's immigration laws and to reward illegal aliens for having thumbed their noses at American sovereignty. Proft no doubt would argue that there is a major difference between amnesty and "earned citizenship," but anybody with an ounce of brains can see through that bogus argument. If he's serious about opposing "rights and privileges reserved for American citizens or legal residents being extended to those here illegally," he should come out in support of making the E-Verify program mandatory for all of the nation's employers and back Sen. Chris Lauzen's repeated calls for the Illinois Legislature to prepare a study showing what the state is spending annually to support illegal aliens.

    Re: Dave Gorak Post

Dan Proft supports the expansive use of e-Verify. It is smart public policy because it gives certainty to both businesses and employees. Dan has stated this at multiple public appearances.

    Mr. Moon,

I take great offense to your article, you are writing this piece through a slanted opinion and can't even see the truth in front of your face. Your agenda has blinded you, so what is your vendetta against Mr. Proft. Why don't you level with us and tell us why you are really doing this. I didn't see a thing in your links that shows me that Mr. Proft is pro-amensty. The LaRazza article was a quote from a commentary from a radio show. The radio show transcripts do not show Mr. Proft to be pro-amensty. So what's the problem? I expected more from you then to be typical mainstream media reporter. Very disappointing to see you are just another hack.

  • Robert Moon 2 years ago

    Charles,

Sorry you have such issues comprehending plain English, but when a link shows Dan calling our immigration laws "immoral" and saying that they should not be followed, that's called being pro-amnesty.

    Try again.

  • Robert Moon 2 years ago

    David,

You're missing the point. Proft is also on the record calling our immigration laws immoral and saying they should not be followed, as the link demonstrates.

YOU may choose to assume that he's being honest now, rather than before, but those of us who've noticed the primary election he's trying to win can't help but suspect otherwise.

  • Spense 2 years ago

Robert, some people choose to be obtuse purely for political reasons.

  • plain-ol-citizen 2 years ago

La Raza is a racist organization that operates like Rainbow push and Jessie Jackson. They draw the race card, then start pressuring people and companies for support. To keep from being labeled racist cave in. Few have the back bone to stand up to them. Mr. Proft should have NEVER even written for such a racist organization. That's the issue for me, shows poor judgement.

  • Robert Moon 2 years ago

    Plain-old-Citizen,

Actually, someone recently pointed out that he did not WRITE this article for La Raza, La Raza just took what he said on a radio show and printed it as part of their pro-illegal immigration propaganda.

Just wanted to be fair to him. Still, if La Raza is using your speeches as propaganda and you're claiming to be a Republican, then you are a RINO, period.

  • plain-ol-citizen 2 years ago

If I were Mr. Proft and La Raza took what I said on a radio show and printed it as part of their pro-illegal immigration propaganda, I think I might extremely upset La Raza who's message has a far greater reach than the examiner.
Perhaps someone's gotten caught with their hand in the salsa jar and just will not execpt responsibility for their actions. The truth shall set you free.

  • IL-Voter 2 years ago

Thanks Robert - I'm glad that you are exposing these guys for who they are. A pro-illegal vote exposes a pro-illegal agenda, regardless of what is said after the fact.

I'm definitely voting for Adam. I look forward to seeing where all the tax $$ have been going too... Ryan, Brady, Dillard, Proft - your political day of reckoning is coming.

  • Carol Rogers 2 years ago

The kool-aid seems to be flowing freely. Come on, we are (or should be) above the kind of rhetoric that I am reading in these comments. Dan Proft is a CONSERVATIVE, he is against amnesty and open borders; and, equally important he has some very good ideas about how to FIX this corrupt state. Instead of repeating untruths or taking statements out of context, I recommend that you go to his site and read. Then sign up for his daily emails to get a thorough understanding of his positions and principles. And then pay attention to all of the other candidates until you have enough information to form your own educated opinion. Then go vote on February 2nd.

  • Robert Moon 2 years ago

    Carol,

The evidence speaks for itself. Insulting people for noticing what a RINO you are blindly defending only further discredits YOU.

The La Raza article clearly shows that he is soft on immigration. His work with pro-abortion, pro-gay environmentalists clearly shows he has no principles on these issues.

And his record of corruption in Cicero also speaks for itself.

Simply repeating the laughable falsehood that he is a conservative won't work for Proft anymore than it will for Mark Kirk. Please either explain away the evidence or stop cheer-leading for liberal phonies.
