There is increasing evidence that the federal program that specifically trains local law enforcement officers to help enforce immigration laws is being thwarted by President Obama and the Democrats in Congress.
According to the Houston Chronicle,
Several members of a key U.S. House committee called for greater oversight of a controversial federal program that allows local law enforcement to detain suspected illegal immigrants....
The Democrats are going after places where the program has worked. For example, in Davidson County (Nashville) Tennessee Sherriff's Department reducted crime in the two years after taking the training of the 287g program. More than 4,000 jailed illegal immigrants were placed in removal proceedings.
The story about how Obama and Democrats have targeted Maricopa County, Ariz. Sherriff Joe Arpaio, for his no-nonsense approach to illegal immigration made the national news when MSNBC reported that at the behest of top officials in the Obama administration, the heat is being turned up on the sheriff.
Some question why, during a drug-fueled civil war is going on along the U..S and Mexico border, the Obama administration is trying to stop law enforcement officers from preventing it from spilling over and begin infiltrating the states north of Arizona, California, New Mexico, Texas. This is what House Speaker Nancy Pelosi calls, "Un -American.
It seems Obama and Pelosi think we are a nation of laws, but that doesn't pertain to immigrants who cross into the United States illegally.
