On Friday, Nazario Rojas Bautista, 27, pleaded guilty to second-degree rape and a second-degree forcible sex offense in Pender County Superior Court.
The Mexican national was arrested in June, after brutally raping his girlfriend in her home.
The woman was strangled and raped, all in full view of her young child, according to court documents.
The Port City Daily reported:
Superior Court Judge Phyllis M. Gorham sentenced Bautista to 60-132 months in prison, consecutively, for each charge, Assistant District Attorney Joseph Bowman said.
Bautista will reportedly spend a minimum of 10 years in prison.
He should be deported upon completion of his prison sentence.
