Illegal alien pleads guilty to murdering infant in New Jersey

On Monday, Randi Rivas Lopez, 22, pleaded guilty to murdering his girlfriend’s 3-month-old daughter in 2007.

On April 24, 2007, Vineland police responded to a 911 call from the baby’s mother, who reported that both her daughter and Lopez were missing when she arrived home from work.

The infant’s body was found that night, in the basement, stuffed inside a garbage bag. The child was beaten to death.

Lopez was arrested the next day at a bus terminal in Camden, New Jersey.

The Guatemalan national will be sentenced on May 2, and faces 30 years behind bars with no parole.

Lopez-Rivas had been previously arrested twice before on charges of burglary and theft, but was not reported to Immigration and Customs Enforcement until his murder arrest.
