On Saturday, Southold Town police arrested Erick Ramirez, 20, after he reportedly raped a 12-year-old girl in Greenport.

Ramirez has been charged with first-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child. He is currently being held at the Suffolk County Jail on a federal immigration detainer.

Disturbingly, the Greenport Union Free School District has a picture on their Facebook page of Ramirez surrounded by a group of young children.

The photo is captioned: "Erick Ramirez explaning (sic) to the younger students how he became 'Erick the Great.' (Actually he's instructing them on the basics of soccer, but the first one sounded better!)"

A report on the Guatemalan national's arrest appeared in the online version of the Suffolk Times, where reader, William Swiskey, posted the following comment:

How does Greenport School allow an illegal (law Breaker) to work with Children on school property. If the people in charge in Greenport School had any knowledge of this man's status or failed to check him out they need to be CANNED now all the way up the chain if need be and no pension. This is unbelievable."

Though 20-years-old, Ramirez' personal Facebook page reports that he attended Southampton High School as recently as the Fall semester.

It is unclear whether or not the accused still attends classes at the high school.
