On Wednesday, police in Medford arrested Jose "Pepe" Valencia-Gaona, 45, after he reportedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend to death a few days earlier.
When 38-year-old Maria Guadelupe Rodriguez arrived home on Sunday evening, Valencia was waiting for her, in the bushes, according to police.
An argument quickly ensued, which resulted in Rodriguez being stabbed several times. She made her way to a neighbor's apartment, where she collapsed and died.
Valencia has been charged with first-degree murder and is currently being held at the Jackson County Jail on an immigration detainer.
An anonymous tip led to Valencia's capture.
