Illegal alien charged with brutal rape, attempted murder in Newport News

On Saturday, Newport News police arrested Jorge Perez-Paez, 23, who allegedly raped a 25-year-old woman last month.

In the early morning hours of July 2, the victim was walking home along Jefferson Avenue when she was approached by Perez-Paez who punched her in the face and dragged her into a nearby wooded area, according to police.

Once in the woods, the woman was sexually assaulted, beaten and choked until she lost consciousness. She was left in a ditch, buried under leaves and debris.

The victim who does not want her identity revealed has disclosed that she is a daughter of a police officer.

The woman suffered a broken nose and a fractured eye socket during the attack. She told police her assailant told her she was “going to die in these woods tonight.”

DNA evidence collected after the attack was sent to the National DNA Databank. The system came back with a match for Perez-Paez who had been implicated in a similar attack in California.
