Last week, police in Murfreesboro arrested Antonio Moreno-Martinez, 35, after he reportedly beat his girlfriend's young son for "not counting numbers correctly," according to court documents.

The Daily News Journal reported:

[MPD Officer Tannas] Knox said the child’s mother said "her boyfriend became angry with the child due to (the child) not counting correctly. The child had multiple bruises on his back, buttock, face and neck."

Moreno-Martinez has been charged with aggravated child abuse and is currently being held in the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center once an ICE detainer.

During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Moreno-Martinez is in the country illegally from Mexico, say police.
