Il Divo's musical affair with showtunes

For the last decade, multinational operatic group Il Divo has graced the world with a beautiful combination of classical opera and pop culture vocal hits. To celebrate ten years of unique, musical crossovers, and approach yet another new direction with their songs, Il Divo is now on tour for their latest album release, “A Musical Affair.”

This upcoming Tuesday, David, Carlos, Urs, and Sébastien stop at Canal St.'s Saenger Theatre to share their cultural style with one of the most cultural cities.

Formed in the U.K. back in 2004 under the management of everyone's favourite talent judge, Simon Cowell, Il Divo is comprised of French pop artist Sébastien Izambard, Spanish baritone Carlos Marín, Swiss tenor Urs Bühler, and American tenor David Miller, who recently celebrated his birthday a few weeks ago.

“A Musical Affair” marks the group's first compilation of purely Broadway tunes. “We've done selections here and there,” David points out, “and were having massive success with audiences.” That led to the decision to create an album dedicated to one specific genre. While “A Musical Affair” will please audiences with familiar tunes, Il Divo has, as usual, given each song their personal flair. Broadway stars such as Kristin Chenoweth and Heather Headley join the quartet on certain tracks.

The show starts at 8pm on Tuesday, May 6. Doors will open around 7, and seating begins at 7:30. Tickets and detailed information can be found online.
