This Saturday, March 16, IHWE will be welcoming its new class of inductees into their Hall of Fame. This will be the fifth consecutive year that IHWE has honored its members and this year will induct a new list.
On the docket for induction this year include Bruiser Brody, who fans all over the world will recognize for his run in places such as the AWA, Japan, as well as legendary Texas promotion World Class Championship Wrestling.
Also on the list is Black Bart. He is a former WCCW World Champion, and spent over three decades wrestling in the southwest part of the country.
Along with those two will be former WCCW and Mid-South star Rick Davidson Sr., 30-year officiating veteran James Beard, and Killer Karl Kox. A longstanding legacy has been left by Kox, as he headlined all over the world and is one of the most widely-known and respected names in the industry.
This year, Houston-based promotion Texas All-Star Wrestling will be honored, as they have been running shows throughout the state for the last 20 years. TASW has been home to several well-known Houston wrestlers over the last few years including Steve DeMarco, Mysterious Q, and countless others.
IHWE owner David Fuller is excited about the new class and had a few words to say regarding this weekend's induction:
This is a big deal to us. Without our past, we would not enjoy what we have today in our business. And our state's history has so much lineage behind it, that it would be a crime NOT to honor it or the people responsible.
The IHWE Hall of Fame in the past has inducted the most recognizable names in the wrestling business including:
- WCCW legend Skandor Akbar
- Former WWE stars Kamala, Matt Borne, Jazz and Rodney Mack, Slick
- NWA legend Johnny Valentine
- The world-famous Dallas Sportatorium
- The Shawn Michaels Wrestling Academy
Since 1998, IHWE has been a cult-followed promotion out of Fort Worth. In the height of its popularity, IHWE has been seen on ABC's nationally Emmy Award-winning news program 20/20, and has also been featured on CBS News and in The Fort Worth Star Telegram.
