IHOP is giving busy moms every excuse in the world not to worry about making breakfast one day this month!

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, February 23 and get a free short-stack to celebrate National Pancake Day. The pancake chain traditinally marks its pancake giveaway on  Fat Tuesday (the day before Lent starts) but they're changing things up this year.

The International House of Pancakes or IHOP is serving customers one free short stack (three) of their famous buttermilk pancakes between 7am and 10am.  Click here for a list of Baltimore-area IHOP locations.

In exchange, the famous pancake house just asks customers to make a donation to support a local children's hospital. Children's hospitals in Baltimore include:

The Children's Hospital at Johns Hopkins (part of the Children's Miracle Network)
Hospital for Children at University of Maryland Medical Center
The Children's Hospital at Sinai

Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital

Donations can be made through the Children's Miracle Network or another local charity.

Tips for Moms: Use IHOP's Free Pancake Day as a jumping off point to teach children several valuable lessons. Here are a few ideas:

  • It's better to give than to recieve
  • The importance of philanthropy
  • Community support and involvement
  • Caring for the sick
  • Lent, Ash Wednesday, Easter and fasting

Yum, great idea. It's the little things that make life fun, and offer opportunity for good parental lessons. Good article. I am hungry now:)
