IHA wins the Bergen County Championship

IHA defeated Northern Highlands, 44-24, in the championship game of the Bergen County Tournament.

Northern Highlands got their first two points with 1:52 left in the first quarter when Jackie Reyneke drew a foul and sank both foul shots. At 1:12 Reyneke scored another basket. The score at the end of the first quarter was 12-4.

IHA's Samantha Wilkes showed the gym why she is a Division 1 bound player. Wilkes did a phenomenal job both scoring from the outside and going inside and posting up. She communicated with her teammates to clear out and easily broke the press. She finished with 8 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists, 1 blocked shot, and 18 points.

To start the second quarter Northern Highlands started in man-to-man. Northern Highlands' Madison Dunbar used her speed to draw numerous fouls on IHA. She ended with 2 rebounds, 3 steals, and 7 points. With 3:01 remaining Melissa Heath picked up her third foul and returned to the bench. At the half-time IHA led 22-10.

With 5:58 left in the third quarter Jackie Reyneke picked up a third foul and only 7 seconds later picked up her fourth. She too went to the bench. IHA's Katia Oge had a great game inside. She worked to earn 7 rebounds, 1 blocked shot, 1 steal, and 11 points. IHA led at the end of the third quarter, 35-18.

Northern Highlands' Jessica Dowicz did a good job boxing out and making sharp outlet passes She had 8 rebounds, 1 blocked shot, 1 steal, and 8 points.

With approximately 4 minutes remaining in the game IHA passed the ball around looking to use some time off the clock before going into score. With 1:10 left in the game Northern Highlands fouled to stop the clock and then put in their bench.
