IHA defeated Old Tappan 58-42 in the Quarterfinals of the Bergen County Tournament.
The first half of the game was close, IHA and Old Tappan both matching each other point for point. IHA led at the end of the first quarter, 9-8. IHA's Samantha Wilkes shows everyone that she is a future Division 1 player through her composure and great decision making. She can distribute, score, and play strong defense. She finished with 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals, and 18 points.
Old Tappan's Melissa Errico was a big force inside. She was able to score off the drop step and earn rebounds. She finished with 7 rebounds, 1 assists, 1 steal, and 12 points. OT trailed at the half, 21-19.
At the four minute mark of the third quarter IHA went into a full court man-to-man pressure defense. This was just the spark they needed to earn a greater lead. Three steals in a row within 24 seconds all led to made lay-ups and IHA's lead became 37-27. IHA's Taylor Anderson did a good job playing point. She finished with 1 rebound, 4 assists, 1 blocked shot, 1 steal, and 10 points.
IHA led at the end of the third quarter, 46-29.
One minute into the fourth quarter OT's Melissa Errico fouled out. OT's Ariana Chipolone did a good job drawing fouls and looking for shots. She finished with 6 rebounds, 1 steal, and 13 points.
