Iginla performs well in All-Star Game

The NHL All-Star Game took place Sunday in Ottawa with Team Chara defeating Team Alfredsson 12-9 at Scotiabank Place.

Jarome Iginla of the Calgary Flames scored a goal and two assists for Team Chara in the victory.

Iginla's goal came at 7:45 of the third period to put Team Chara up 8-7 at the time. It would be a lead they would not relinquish for the rest of the game. Evgeni Malkin of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Corey Perry of the Anaheim Ducks picked up the assists. Iginla's goal came on his only shot of the hockey game, as he was able to beat Brian Elliott of the St. Louis Blues.

Iginla also assisted on goals by Malkin and Perry. Former Flame Dion Phaneuf meanwhile was a -3 while playing for Team Chara as well.

Marian Gaborik of the New York Rangers was the All-Star Game MVP. He had three goals and one assist. The NHL also announced the 2013 NHL All-Star Game will be played in Columbus.
