Iggy Azalea, famed Australian rapper, took a tumble off the stage as she performed at an MTV Video Music Awards benefit concert on Friday, according to Billboard Magazine on Sunday. As one can imagine, the incident was caught on video – and the video of Azalea back-stepping and dancing her way off stage right has gone totally viral. While the video seems to indicate that she recovered quickly from the misstep, it is not known if she actually incurred any injuries from the hard fall or not.
Thanks to a quick responding group of security guards nearby when the incident occurred, Azalea returned to the stage quite quickly and strut herself back into the act on stage. The rapper fell off the stage while performing “Fancy,” a hit song, at The Avalon in Los Angeles. During the mishap, Azalea was performing “Fancy” with Charli XCX on stage. Following the incident, Azalea spoke about the accident by telling the huge audience that she felt she was extremely blessed that she didn’t break her legs.
The benefit event in which she was performing was benefitting Lifebeat. Lifebeat is an organization in which “Music Fights HIV/AIDS.” Besides Azalea and Charli XVX, Tori Kelly and Sam Smith also performed at the event, according to People Magazine.
Azalea has been nominated for seven awards at the Video Music Awards (VMA). Azalea, whose real name is Amethyst Amelia Kelly, is 24 years old. Iggy Azalea is her stage name for her recording artist career and her modeling career. She is originally from Mullumbimby, New South Wales. She came to the United States when she was 16 years old to pursue a hip hop music career. She became famous via YouTube videos a couple of years ago when she released videos of her controversial songs “Pu$$y” and “Two Times.” The VMAs show will be telecast live on MTV on Sunday, Aug. 24.
