iFly Indoor Skydiving is a fantastic, fun virtual skydiving experience. In a less technical sense, wind turbines suck up the air through the wind tunnel and the air speeds of 1,000 hp hold you up, giving a sensation that you are flying with true free fall conditions just like skydiving. There are locations across the country to include Seattle, Dallas, Universal CityWalk in Hollywood, Austin, Orlando, Chicago and more, as well as in various locations out of country to include Montreal, Dubai, Singapore, Manchester, and Malaysia to name a few. And, finally there is Rip Cord by iFly on board the Royal Caribbean's Quantum Class ships, Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas. On land, cost of flying starts at about $59 and can increase depending on several factors; number of flyers, length of flying, number of flights and experience level. But, at sea, Royal Caribbean has made the flights complimentary for guests.
The guidelines are the same whether you fly at a land based facility or at sea: Flyers may be as young as three years of age. There is no upper age limit. All flyers must be in good health and physical condition. Those less than 6 feet tall must weigh less than 230 lbs, and those over 6 feet must weigh less than 250 lbs. Children under 18 years of age need to have a parent or guardian to sign their waiver. If you have a prior shoulder dislocation or back or neck problems or are pregnant you should not fly.
The first skydiving experience at sea allows everyone from first-time flyers to seasoned skydivers to enjoy the sheer thrill and exhilaration of skydiving in a safe, controlled, simulated environment. The sensation of flying takes place inside a 23-foot tall glass flight chamber, the center piece of RipCord by iFLY, giving Royal Caribbean guests the chance to fly while taking in stunning ocean views. It is surrounded by a viewing platform for friends, family and other spectators so everyone can take part in the fun. Located on the outdoor Sports Court at the stern of the ship, RipCord by iFLY overlooks the FlowRider surf simulator and is situated adjacent to the Rock Climbing Wall, creating a trifecta of adrenaline-pumping guest activities found only on Royal Caribbean.
Before taking flight guests are required to register and participate in a training course where they are shown an overview video and taught correct flight position and hand signals from trained instructors. Guests are then outfitted in their flight gear, including a jumpsuit, goggles, and helmet. Once on the flight deck, each guest enjoys two, one-minute long flights with an instructor, consisting of one practice flight followed by a free-style flight. Guests leave RipCord by iFly having experienced an adventure of a lifetime, and can purchase commemorative photos and video to cherish for years to come.
iFly will provide a safe and fun way to experience skydiving without the need for a parachute or jumping from an airplane. No experience is necessary and all training is included.
