Like the tree falling in a forest will anyone hear it? Well this past Saturday there was a protest held simultaneously in 38 states, 121 cities and no national coverage. In New York alone were protests in seven cites all by real grass roots protesters. This past Saturday February 23rd was National Day of Resistance.
What started as a small protest by David Stockton turned nationwide as interest grew. The protests were in response to the assaults on the second amendment by both the federal and state governments. Unlike a move-on.org protest the media did not come out in droves to cover it. Also unlike a move-on.org protest it lasted several hours, move-on is famous for alerting the media and only staying as long as the media. They were not paid for by PACS, 301’s or any special interest group. We can guess since it does not follow the narrative the media likes to portray they did not cover it.
This protest was larger than the protest last month which had 3,200 in Albany and 1,500 in Harford Connecticut. This also was buried by the media. It will be interesting to see the contrast this Thursday. In conjunction with Obama’s site Organizing for Action and SEIU 1199 you can sign up for free buses, free breakfast and lunch to go to Albany to support Cuomo’s gun grabbing NY Safe Act. You can see it for yourself right after you get past the donation pages of Obama’s site. It is not clear why the union of health care workers would supply buses in New York supporting a law that has already passed. It might be in response to the 24 counties out of fifty that have passed resolutions against the New York Safe Act.
The people of the State of New York are organizing a counter protest to protect their rights. In the spirit American rugged individualism there is no free ride. Breakfast and lunch will not be provided from the dues of hardworking members. These counter protesters will make their own way to Albany and are expected to overwhelm the paid protesters in numbers and enthusiasm. How will the news media be able to cover this and stick to their agenda?
Obama and his flunkies claim all these new gun laws are worth it if it saves just one life. It is apparent that his supporters feel it is worth a free bus ride, breakfast and lunch. Progressive voters USA feels the gun laws are worth between nine and eleven dollars an hour. They are advertising for paid campaigners to “stop gun violence”. The White House feels it is worth using our tax dollars for programs to write fictional twitter posts supporting gun control to congressmen. Isn’t this the very definition of Astroturf the media uses against any group it refuses to cover fairly?
The media happily plays along with this game. By not reporting news that does not fit their narrative they can congratulate each other on being at the cutting edge of trends. They go to parties sip expensive wine and discuss how better to herd their readers towards enlightenment. But here’s a new flash for them, not only are people not buying the lies they are not buying your papers and shows. They would see that as evidenced by the New York Times’ fire sale of the Boston Globe. But it also was not widely reported.
