Given the heated acrimony between Republicans and Democrats in the wake of a bruising debate over Obamacare, perhaps this passage related as part of a press release by U.S. Senate candidate Carmen Amedori is apt. This was placed on her Facebook page and brought to my attention:
Carmen Amedori, Republican candidate for United States Senate in Maryland, states that the incumbent Senator's remark that "the Republican Party is from Mars" shows just how out of touch she is with the electorate.
“For Senator Mikulski to think the majority of citizens she represents are content with this health care bill shows she is uninformed. I continue to listen to the voices of Marylanders from the Allegany Mountains to the shores of Ocean City, and they are not happy campers,” Amedori said.
“She has been in office too long and her tangent of using examples of "Venus, Mars, and Earth" in comparison to the Democrat and Republican parties, should serve as a reminder to all voters that the four-term Senator may not have their best interests in mind as she prepares to vote for Reconciliation to pass this bill.” said Amedori.
Amedori believes true reform would include tort reform, associated health plans along with pre-existing conditions. Additionally, Amedori does not agree with the robbing of $500 Billion from Medicare to supplement Medicaid.
It's not unexpected that Amedori has a different solution to the health care puzzle in mind than the blind support of Obamacare (as well as the rest of the Democrat agenda) exhibited by Mikulski. However, the dismissive, haughty attitude suggested by the Mikulski comments cited by Amedori may not play too well in the hyperpartisan tinderbox we're living under in the wake of the dirty pool and backroom deals which typified the passage of Obamacare. In fact one could suggest that by being so compliant Mikulski didn't leave herself any bargaining chips, carveouts, or quid pro quos to secure her vote.
Perhaps that's admirable in a sense that she's an honest broker, but even an honest broker could work to provide more benefits for her home state. The state's producers are already under attack from the horribly regressive tax system put in place by Maryland Democrats, and the costs to small businesses all across Maryland are sure to increase thanks to the actions of Mikulski and her fellow Democrats (save Frank Kratovil.)
Kratovil put principle above party to reflect the interests of his district - when will Barbara Mikulski do the same for Maryland?

"Kratovil put principle above party to reflect the interests of his district...."
Carmen, Thanks for supporting Kratovil. You mean you don't understand the weak politics of Franks vote and you praise him? You are no great team player....ever hear the name Andy Harris?
Go home Carmen.
I never said that. That is commentary from M.Schwartz. I don't support Frank and never have. I am 100% behind Andy Harris, always have been. As matter of fact, when the AFP wanted to give Kratavil kudos for No vote on the Obamacare, I am the one who pointed out to them that Kratovil got buy and they should not support him because Pelosi allowed him the NO vote. I think perhaps, you should re-read the blog. Maybe a second read will give you full comprehension that this is Michael's voice. Not mine.
