If one needs a Bumbershoot this weekend...Examiner.com has got you covered

Hoperully, Bumbershoot fans will not need a Bumbershoot this weekend

By Greg Roth SLME / SMI

Bumbershoot... The Websters dictionary defenition is as follows: Etymology: bumber- (alteration of umbr- in umbrella) + -shoot (alteration of -chute in parachute)

The Seattle definition of Bumbershoot  is a little more complex but basically, it could be defined as the biggest 3 day arts and entertainment festival in the Northwest featuring bands from all over the U.S. and right from Seattle's own backyard.

The weather report looks less than stellar compared to past Labor Day / Bumbershoot weekends, with some light showers for Saturday and isolated thunderstorms predicted for Sunday along with light showers on Monday. One may need to bring a Bumbershoot to Bumbershoot this year but for the most part, it looks like the only real show stoppers will be the acts themselves.

For some of you, Seattle's premier Arts and Entertainment festival may or may not be important. Seattle Local Music Examiner posed this question earlier in the week: Bumbershoot... Is it still important to the city of Seattle?

Only you can answer the question and make that determination but for those that are geeked for the 3 day event. We invite you to let Examiner.com be your "one stop shop" for all things that are Bumbershoot. First let's start with the Bumbershoot basics and work our way down.

Do you need a Bumbershoot survival kit? Look no further than the Seattle Live Music Examiner. Everything you need for a successful 3 day music and arts fest can be found here.

Do you have kids and are you planning on bringing them? If the answer is yes then, know that Bumbershoot offers something for kids as well as adults

Who are the acts to catch that fly under the perverbial radar? Check out the Seattle Indie Music Examiner to find out where some of those precious gems in the local indie scene will be playing.

If you want to know what you missed or highlights of your favorite act, "The Bumbershoot Ninja", AKA the Seattle Rock Music  Examiner is going to be roaming the grounds and reporting back on what he sees and hears.

Of course, Bumbershoot is not all about music. (You don't say). So for folks that are attending and looking for non music events, the Seattle Theatre Examiner could be and excellent resource for you.

For those that are going to be unplugged from your i-Phones, Smart Phones or laptops but are close to the radio, one can tune into KMTT for Bumbershoot news, updates and to hear some of your favorite Bumbersoot artists.

For those of you, that are planning on attending, enjoy the invariable buffet of music, comedy, film and dance and most importantly stay safe and stay hydrated.

Please let us know your thoughts and who some of your favorite acts were. In other words, let us know who stole your hearts and stole the show. SLME will keep you posted here with links, updates, reports or any other information that you "Bumbershooters" will find useful. Until next time, rock on wth your bad selves.
