"If MY people, who are called by MY Name...."

"If MY people, who are called by MY Name...." from 2 Chronicles 7:14 is a promise and a warning. A promise that all it takes for the land to be healed is for "MY people" to obey. A warning that if the land is not healed, "MY people" are to blame.

The American Renewal Project, which reaches primarily pastors, sent out a great email today about God taken out of schools, out of our courts, driven out by the Supreme Court, leading to abortion, sodomite marriage, etc. etc. (See copy below.) But the real message I see is the voluntary withdrawal of pastors from America's life and institutions.

“Now, more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness, and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave, and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature. . . . [I]f the next centennial does not find us a great nation . . . it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture, and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces.” - President James Garfield, 1876, quoted by David Barton at an Iowa Renewal Project conference

Possibly a quarter of Iowa's pastors have participated in the several conferences of the Iowa Renewal Project, which poured tremendous resources into free hotel rooms, meals, and high price in-the-news political leaders and other speakers. I have had the privilege of attending a few.

And what are they told, besides the usual inspiring stories of American's sins and God's glorious Gospel truths? That the key to correcting all this is getting Christians to at least vote. A huge percentage of Evangelicals don't even bother to vote, and a huge percentage of those are not even registered to vote. David Barton tells them, in person, how much less support for Christian positions there is in Congress compared with the general public, and how this correlates to the slight interests Christians show in voting. His article analyzing through 2006 says Congress has 20% to 30% less support for Christian positions than the general public, which correlates to the 17% drop in Christian voting from 1992to 1996, and the additional 23% drop from 1996 to 2000, giving us Democrat control of both House and Senate in 2000, and a presidential outcome so close it was tied up in court for what seemed like months. In 2000, only 15 million of America's 60 million Evangelicals voted.

Barton says pollsters define Evangelicals as "a born-again voter who also believes the Bible is important and who attends church, prays, and reads the Bible at least once a week; this is the group of Christians that take their faith most seriously."

Catholic v. Protestant voters: This definition of "Evangelicals" counts at least some Catholics. Catholic voter opposition to Biblically-defined abominations like abortion and sodomy is more often canceled by their support for government welfare, inspired by Biblical compassion for the needy in the absence of discernment that the Biblical model for charity is mostly from individuals, with only a tiny percentage carried by government; and that government welfare bureaucracy is scandalously wasteful and often does harm. For some reason Protestants are less likely to think of government is the best distributor of charity. Since the Democratic party supports ever-growing government welfare bureaucracy as well as On the other hand Catholics are much more supportive of welcoming immigrants, an overwhelmingly Biblical position, which Democrats also support, in their rhetoric if not in their actions.

Barton says in 2002, Evangelical voting increased 2%, which resulted in a 7% advantage for a prolife candidate, which in turn resulted in 67% of the new 54 Congressmen being prolife, and 80% of the 10 Senators. It was that class that, in 2004, gave us 18 USC 1841(d) which defines all unborn babies, "at all stages of gestation", as "members of the species homo sapiens". This technically triggers Roe v. Wade's "collapse" clause, which in turn ends abortion's "legal" status and requires states to criminalize abortion to protect the 14th Amendment right to life of the unborn, but in these 10 years no prolifer has brought a case that forces judges to acknowledge this "collapse". I explain this at www.Saltshaker.US/SLIC.

Of course, I am not allowed to explain this opportunity to the members of my church, or to the members of any other church, because that is called "politics", to shine the Light of the Gospel on Sin, once government, empowered by the absence of Christian votes, decides to protect and promote that sin.

The American Renewal Project is a valiant, heroic, Biblical effort to cajole "MY people, who are called by MY name", to "humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways".

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

But while attending the conference, pastors have the deceptively comforting sense that the speakers are talking about "the other guy".

Although attendees are shown that our nation has grown dark in proportion to the withholding of light by Christians eligible to vote, no one dares suggest out loud that all the Noninvolvement Theologies, all the prohibitions of church members meeting on church premises to strategize how to oppose the government-supported abominations identified as sins by their pastors' sermons, are flat-out wrong, a "hiding of light under a bushel" (Matthew 5:15), a refusal to "show...the bloody city...all her abominations" (Ezekiel 22:2), and even evil.

No one is reminded that half Jesus' teachings were Jesus confronting Palestine's political leaders. Or that no one who is politically insignificant made God's list of Heroes of the Faith in Hebrews 11.

2 Chronicles 7:14 doesn't say that saving our land depends on "the other guy". It's all us. For all we know from the passage, what atheists do is entirely irrelevant to whether our land can be healed.

Here is the letter to pastors from the American Renewal Project:

"The issue each generation must face is whether it will walk by sight or by faith in the reality of a covenant-keeping God. On the political horizon of sight, the covenant people see pagans not only unwilling to give up an inch of ground, but determined, if they can, to either plunder or assimilate God's people. Israel's enemies are led by tyrants who have names like 'The Double-Wicked', are armed with hundreds of iron chariots, constantly use new technologies, and are so numerous they are like locusts. The pagan has no faith in I AM, scoffs at salvation history, and lives by an ethic that believes in oneself or some other god, such as wealth or military might. Against such odds even men like Barak, Gideon, and Jephthah, heroes of faith in Hebrews 11, tremble, but by faith they overcome their fears and prevail. They prevail, however, not by magic, but by using whatever they find in their hands with which to fight." *

The secularists have spent 50 years imposing an ideology -- a false religion -- on America. Our Christian nation is in a moral free-fall, collapse is the next step barring a spiritual, miraculous intervention. $16T worth of debt is a staggering injustice. The arrogant pretension that we Americans are members of some super-duper race, a nation of "American Exceptionalists", is a stench in the nostrils of the God on whom the Founders laid the foundation. It is the kindness of the Lord that we are coming to our kairos, to be made conscious of our helplessness.

Since the U. S. Supreme Court removed the Bible -- the Word of God -- in 1963 and set in motion the false religion of Secularism, the biblically illiterate body politic of the United States finds it impossible to recognize the immeasurable superiority of Christianity over Secularism.

Secularism has used the courts as the road to revolution. That is, it has taken the ineffectuality and cowardice of the Legislative Branch and imposed its supremacy, maybe the greatest contemporary threat to the survival of republican government.

With the removal of biblical truth from public schools, now the public square -- "We must have a fixed point in order to judge." Pascal -- the corruption of the courts of justice has evolved over the last century to place sustainable freedom in the cross hairs. The U.S. Supreme Court -- which removed the standard for righteousness and conduct from public schools in 1963 -- has since found, in the Constitution, the right to kill babies in their mothers womb and, most recently, the right to homosexual marriage. This is judicial tyranny and corruption of justice. The arrogance and fiction of judicial supremacy of the court is mind-blowing.

Secularism cannot reform itself, it is founded on a false religion based upon untruth, beginning with Secularism's religious hoax of Evolution, taught as gospel to our children in Pre-K. One must believe that man evolved from some primordial soup or, "In the beginning God created heaven and earth."** -- make no mistake, both Christianity and Secularism are religions, but only one is true, one must decide which faith to follow.

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: that is, the first step to the attainment of knowledge."*** We can get out of this mess if we make, "sin to be more hated, God to be more feared, Christ to be more highly valued, the path of duty more clearly defined, which is what we are to aim to."**** The way to abolish the religion of Secularism -- imposed and embedded in public education by the U.S. Supreme Court -- is the restoration of our Judeo Christian foundation and reestablishment of a Christian culture. Someone's ideology is going to reign supreme. The antidote to the false religion of Secularism is true Christianity, there can be no reconciliation of immutable, competing religions and worldviews.

"Religion and morality are indispensable supports" for political prosperity and freedom said George Washington. Those supports today are nearly unrecognized among us, owing to the liberal and radical dominance of the secular press. The liberal secularists are so beclouded by false ideas of liberty and freedom that they remember nothing but the mind-numbing repetition of, "a woman's right to choose" and "homosexual rights and marriage" -- though they recoil when conveniently reminded that virtue is a key component of freedom. If you told them that righteousness was the essential condition of liberty, and that God requires it for freedom, they would roll in the aisles.

Notice the form and direction which Secularism has taken America from the cornerstone laid by the Founders, "...for the Glory of God, and advancements of the Christian faith." To persist down this path of Secularism will decide, for better or worse, a turning point in American history, it's too early to predict the choice we will make. To forge ahead with Secularism leads to, "widespread, systemic, violations of the law, which brings on lawlessness as its natural consequence and its fitting punishment, and with lawlessness comes a multiplicity of rulers and factions."*****

Will a Gideon or Rahab the Harlot please stand.
