As we get closer to the mega-fight between Manny Pacquiao versus Shane Mosley, the rumblings of a showdown between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are getting louder. On Friday, Jeff Mayweather says that he thinks a fight between Manny and his nephew Floyd moves one step closer if Manny can KO Mosley. According to Fighthype.com, Jeff Mayweather made the following comments:
"If he does knock him out, that's good because it's good business for the fight because the fight becomes even bigger between Manny and Floyd."
A knockout victory for Pacquiao over Mosley would be historical as Shane has never been KO'd before. It took Mayweather Jr. to win by decision when he fought Mosley on May 1, 2011. Additionally, Mayweather was in trouble during the 2nd round when Mosley rocked him with some solid punches. Pacquiao has vowed to go "toe-to-toe" with Mosley which means the chances of a KO will go up.
Manny Pacquiao ready to go 'toe-to-toe' with Shane Mosley on Saturday May 7th
On Thursday, Floyd Mayweather Sr. speculated that there's a chance that Floyd Jr. will attend the fight between Manny and Shane. If so, it shows that Floyd does have interest in Manny beyond the typical media hype.
Floyd Mayweather Jr might attend the Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosley fight
If Manny can KO Mosley then he can KO Mayeather Jr. too. Mayweather's allusive style shouldn't be a problem for Manny. Mosley showed that aggressive boxing can cause trouble for Mayweather. Unfortunately, Mosley tired out and played into Mayweather's strengths. But Manny, has the conditioning to chase and attack Mayweather for 12 rounds.
However, all of this excitement and speculations will be for nothing if Mosley pulls off the greatest upset since Buster Douglas vs. Mike Tyson. Pacquiao vs. Mosley is live on May 7th from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight will air on PPV starting at 9pm EST.
