If guns were used for abortion would Democrats support them?

In our current legal system it takes a panel of 12 peers to decide whether a killing is justifiable homicide or murder. In our current political system it took a panel of 9 justices to decide murder can be justifiable based on age. Right now it is legal to kill someone until they reach their birthday. If the current world trend continues it will be open season on seniors, handicapped, and infirm but that’s a column for another day.

If the Democrats fought for the second amendment to the constitution as strongly as the right to abortion contained in there somewhere, what would it sound like? Taking the 2012 Democratic Party platform on the right to abortion and with a few minor changes it would sound like this:

“The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports the second amendment and a woman's right to make decisions regarding her protection, including a safe and legal fire arm, regardless of ability to pay. We oppose any and all efforts to weaken or undermine that right. The means to protect ones self is an intensely personal decision between a woman, her family, her local police, and her clergy; there is no place for politicians or government to get in the way. We also recognize that a strong justice system and incarceration help reduce the number of robberies and assaults and thereby also reduce the need for self defense. We strongly and unequivocally support a woman's decision to have a fire arm by providing affordable weapons and ensuring the availability of and access to programs that help women train in their use and including caring cleaning programs.” (1)

Of course it hits the main Democratic voting points of women, affordable (i.e.: taxpayer subsidized) and even implements some new inefficient government programs to reward supporters. If arming supporters gave him more time on the golf course than the rigors of work, Obama would respond like this:

“As we mark the 235 anniversary of America, we must remember that this second amendment not only protects a woman’s health and freedom, but also affirms a broader principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters. I remain committed to protecting a woman’s right to bear arms and this fundamental constitutional right. While this is a sensitive and often divisive issue—no matter what our views, we must stay united in our determination to prevent robberies, support armed women and mothers, reduce the need for self defense, enforce tough laws, and promote range time. And as we remember this historic anniversary, we must also continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our forefathers to fulfill their dreams.” (2)

So as not to confuse Democratic voters’ the above statements are the gun control debate juxtaposed with the Democratic abortion talking points. The position of the Democrats and Obama is that women should not be allowed to defend themselves from rape or assault. Especially if the criminal has a weapon, which he is not required to register, per the Supreme Court or it would violate his right of self incrimination. But the Democrats do give women the right to defend themselves from the innocent child produced from such a crime. So in effect if the Government was doing its job other than just figuring ways to get more tax dollars to waste, guns would be safe, legal and rare.

I was tempted to use this space to get extra hits by stating that my columns are the only place for the truth today. But today’s internet users are wiser than that. The truth of the matter is I am exceedingly broke in the Obama economy and my good wife is too proud for entitlements. She is so...
