As we reported earlier this morning, director Gary Ross is in talks with Lionsgate to talk the helm of the movie adaptation of The Hunger Games, the first book in Suzanne Collins' best-selling trilogy.
The deal isn't done yet, and there's a chance another director could get the job, but so-far Ross appears to be the front-runner. Ross has extensive experience as a writer and producer. And while he's only directed two films, both are noteworthy: 1998's Pleasantville and 2003's Seabiscuit.
Both films star Toby Maguire, which begs the question ... if he's one of the director's favorite actors will Ross cast Maguire in a role in The Hunger Games? And if so, what role?
At 35, Maguire is too old to play any of the tributes (at least in The Hunger Games; the Quarter Quell plot line in Catching Fire leaves room for older tributes). But he also seems too young (and too nice) to play a noteworthy adult character like Haymitch or President Snow.
So if Maguire did appear in The Hunger Games, it would most likely be as a favor to Ross and in a smaller role, perhaps an almost cameo-like appearance.

Actually, he would fit for the role of Cinna. I personally don't think he's right for it, but it's a possible spot for him IF the director is hell-bent on casting him in the film.
I don't think he would be a good fit for any of the major characters at all.
He better not. HG fans will jump on him big time. He shouldn't be that stupid!
I think Hugh Dancy should play Cinna...
Maybe he could be Caesar Flickerman! I mean, Caesar's supposed to be older but has had surgery to "stay young" so-to-speak...
