Celebrate with a grilled tequila-lime chicken southwest salad.
Every year on July 24th, National Tequila Day gives us all a great reason (or “excuse,” if you need it) to go to that happy hour after work or that favorite Mexican restaurant around the corner. Going out to celebrate National Tequila Day is a blast, but if you would rather do your celebrating at home, below are a few ideas to help get the celebration started.
If sipping or shooting tequila isn't your style:
- The perfect margarita – for a traditional celebration
- Patron summer cocktail recipes – celebrate in style
- Tila Tequila cocktail – a little less style, but still sweet
- Fire up the barbeque for some tequila-lime chicken. You can use the chicken for fajitas, tacos, a chicken sandwich, or in a southwest style chicken salad (see picture, above).
- Honolulu Cooking Examiner Ashley Brooks recommends her carnitas recipe, which she says is “GREAT with tequila."
- If you don’t want pork, try Chicago Easy Meals Examiner Judy Cheske’s recipe for classic beef tacos. Judy also has a recipe for guacamole and “cool and easy” corn and black beans.
- Keep the barbeque going and fix some tequila-glazed grilled pineapple. These tasty morsels are great alone, and even better when topped with some vanilla ice cream.
- Baked goods more your style? Raleigh Easy Meals Examiner Kendra Browning has a key lime cake recipe that is topped with tequila.
