Last Sunday marked the conclusion of IDEA Health and Fitness Association's 26th Annual World Fitness Convention in downtown Los Angeles. During this jam-packed weekend of nonstop sessions, workshops and demos galore, the San Diego-based company launched a new online tool to aid fitness professionals and facilities in acquiring the necessary exposure needed to run successful businesses.
What was IDEA's idea?
::DRUM ROLL please::
It's a feature called FitnessConnect. IDEA has positioned FitnessConnect as the world's largest fitness professional directory, with the ability to connect professionals with over 16 million consumers.
Here's how it works: A fitness professional (i.e. personal trainer and group exercise instructor), facility or club creates an account and completes a detailed profile. Once the account is active, the registered user possesses the ability to post videos, classes and engage with clients. Additional features include ratings and reviews, success stories, blogs and a custom newsletter. Professionals are able to attract new clients while maintaining relationships with existing clients. To get listed on FitnessConnect, users pay the price of free. Yes, free.
Another advantage of having a listing in the directory is the verification of fitness professional credentials by the top 14 certification bodies. Among participating certification entities are ACE, NASM, NETA and IFPA. IDEA prides this feature of FitnessConnect because of the ability to separate the "posers from the pros."
