IDA has unique marketing strategy for new CGI animated series

International Digital Artists (IDA) is allowing viewers to preview their new CGI animated series about American soldiers played by rabbits on their YouTube channel for the next two weeks.

"Cat S*** One" is a three volume manga series by Motofumi Kobayashi.  The manga took place in Vietnam, and told the story of a recon team of American soldiers represented by rabbits (a pun on the Japanese word for rabbit, "usagi," or "USA G.I."). In the United States it was released as "Apocalypse Meow" as a play on the film "Apocalypse Now."

The new CGI anime series takes place sometime after 1991, with action taking place in the Middle East.

"Cat S*** One" producer and IDA CEO Junya Okabe wrote on the YouTube channel that the strategy was a way to drum up support for the show so they can continue the planned 12 episodes.

"The film has yet to surpass the production cost and we saw more potential for the content in the U.S. than in Japan," Okabe wrote.  "We dubbed the entire film in English by casting American voice actors. Even after all the obstacles, we have managed to finalize the English version of our investment."
