Ichiro in crash: Yankees star Ichiro Suzuki unharmed after accident

New York Yankees star outfielder Ichiro Suzuki was involved in a car accident late Saturday afternoon. The Yankees must be thinking when it rains it pours! After Jeter's injury last season followed by A-Rod's hip and Granderson's broken forearm the last thing the Bombers need is to lose Ichiro.

The New York News Daily reported today, Mar. 3 that shortly after Ichiro left Steinbrenner Field, Ichiro was driving his Land Rover on Dale Mabry Highway near Kennedy Boulevard in Tampa, less than three miles from the ballpark. According to Tampa Police, a woman cut him off as she tried to make a left turn.

“He did nothing wrong,” Lt. Ronald McMullen said. “The woman was given a citation for cutting him off.”

Getting injured on the field of play is one thing, but being involved in an accident that could be life threatening is another. Thankfully Suzuki walked away from the crash unharmed.

Three total cars were involved in the accident, but no one suffered any injuries. Ichiro’s car may have taken the biggest hit of all as it had to be towed from the scene.
