For as long as I can remember I've always adored small, charming and independently owned dining establishments (I blame my extensive travels over seas and to big cities for my attraction to them). Orlando has many wonderful things that set us apart from places near and far, however discovering top-notch eateries can be somewhat of a challenge. After walking through a massive sea of lovers throughout our fair city on Valentine's Day, the only thing this young girl wanted was a nice glass of wine, some soft lighting and reasonably priced sushi. Ask and you shall receive right?

Moments after my seaweed, sushi and sake craving kicked in, my gentlemen friend and I serendipitously stumbled upon Ichiban. Serene setting, soft lighting and the sweet aroma of Asian delights filled the air. The soothing sounds of chopsticks clicking, soy sauce dripping and tempura flipping had my Valentine and me salivating before getting to our table. This chic sushi bar is filled with hypnotic pieces of artwork, golden wood tables and oriental shoji dividers for added table privacy. They have an extensive list of flavored sake, assortment of beers, lunch/dinner specials and an endless list of sushi rolls.

We sampled a wide array of rice wines that evening, but I was partial to the decadent flavors of the Fuji apple sake. During daily happy hour between 5 and 7, you can get select rolls for $2 -$3 dollars a pop along with specials on their assortment of different Japanese wines, beers and cocktails. Their most popular sushi was called the "unbelievable roll." This left me saying one profound statement “This restaurant is truly unbelievable!"
I'd like to dedicate this article to the oustanding service, food and owners of Ichiban. Thank you for making an already special Valentine's Day more memorable (and to my Valentine for making it perfect).
