Laila North of Uncork Nova Scotia Wine Tours is offering three unique tours for the Nova Scotia Icewine Festival that include side trips to some of her customers' favourite stops in Annapolis Valley.
The Icewine Discover Tour is her most popular tour on Feb. 9, 15 and 16 starting from the Marriott Harbourfront Hotel in Halifax from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. Price $75.+HST.
The tour includes a side trip to Fox Hill Cheese House to taste an array of their homemade cheeses and gelato. A second side trip will be to the province's newest winery Planter's Ridge which opens this spring. The winemaker will be giving explanation of how icewine is made and there will be a sneak peak tour of the new winery.
Then on to Grand Pre winery which is providing the venue for the six winery Ice Wine Festival events including L'Acadie Vineyard, Blomidon Estates, Luckett Vineyard, Avondale Sky, Sainte Famille and of course the host winery Grand Pre. Guests will be provided with wine and cheese pairing by the six wineries as well as a chance to meet the winemakers, make a grapevine wreath or cozy up around the bonfire.
The Icewine Experience Tour is being offered only on Feb 8, from noon - 9:00 pm. Price $135 plus HST.
The tour guide will give an explanation of how icewine is produced during the trip from Halifax to Grand Pre Winery where the festival events are being held. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy the afternoon events of the wine festival including wine tastings and food pairings Then they will go on to visit nearby Fox Hill Cheese House for a tour and cheese tasting. On the way back to Grand Pre guests will stop in for a pre dinner wine cocktail at The Port gastropub in Port Williams then back to Grand Pre Winery for a three course dinner at Le Caveau Restaurant which was named one of the top 40 winery restaurants in the world by Wine Access magazine.
The Taste the Passion Tour on Feb 15 includes an overnight getaway at the beautiful Tattingstone Inn in Wolfville starting at $200 per person + HST. Guests will be picked up from the Tattingstone at 1:00 pm and driven to Grand Pré Winery to enjoy an afternoon of Icewine Festival events and wine and food pairings. Then on to Foxhill Cheese House for cheese samplings, A stop in Wolfville for a wine cocktail at Front and Central restaurant and back to Grand Pre for a four course gourmet dinner at Le Caveau restaurant. The tour bus will return guests to the Tattingstone for a relaxing night where they will enjoy delicious complimentary breakfast in the morning.
