Ice Skating returns to Tampa this holiday season

After a successful 2010 stint, the ice skating rink at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park will return once again this holiday season. This week a crew constructed the 40ft. by 100ft. structure that holds a 200 ton ice chiller to keep the ice at 4F at all times.

The rink will open on Friday, November 11, 2011 until Sunday, January 1, 2012. The rink will be open Monday through Thursday from 4pm until 9pm, Friday 4pm until 10pm, Saturday 10am until 10pm, and Sunday noon until 9pm. The rink will be closed on Thanksgiving and limited hours on Christmas Eve (10am until 4pm) and Christmas Day (4pm until 9pm).

The cost for ice skating at the Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park is $10 per person, which includes rental of ice skates.

Other upcoming special events to take place at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park this holiday season will be the Tampa Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, December 2nd and the arrival of Santa Clause on Saturday, December 3rd.
