Ice racing in Ottawa this weekend

After all the snow we got this week, spring and car show season seems a long time away. There are still automotive activities going on , however, and one of them is ice racing. The Motorsport Club of Ottawa is running the 2013 Ice Race this Sunday, February 24th, at the Capital City Speedway. It’s apparently still possible to enter as a participant up until 11:45 tonight. You can find the details on their website (you will have to scroll down quite a ways). You do have to be a member of the club to participate, however. Registration begins at 8:30 am, followed by a technical inspection.

If you don’t feel like putting your driving or your car to the test, it’s still possible to watch. I’m told there’s no admission charge for spectators. The race will start at 12:30 and run until around 3:30, followed by sprints.

Check out the Capital City Speedway website for detailed directions and a map. Regular races will be resuming at the Speedway in May.
